Tyson Foods’ s New Trademark: “MAD ROOTS”
Tyson Foods recently applied to trademark “MAD ROOTS” for “Meat substitutes; vegan and vegetarian meat substitutes; plant-based meat substitutes”. The application was filed on July 17, 2020.
Roughly a year ago, Tyson Foods, Inc. ended its investment in plant-based meat substitute manufacturer Beyond Meat, and said “Tyson Foods continues to be committed to providing alternative protein as a choice for consumers and recently announced the creation of a new business focused on combining our creativity, scale and resources to make great tasting protein alternatives more accessible for everyone”. Now we know what their own plant-based meat product will be called.
This move may raise tensions between Tyson Foods and Beyond Meat, which is the current plant-based meat Leader.
